Elie has a general business law and real estate practice with a focus on corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions and various banking matters.
Elie began his legal career with a large international firm where he participated in billion dollar M&A transactions, complex estate mediations, reverse takeovers, large-scale renewable energy projects and financings for several commercial transactions. He has also worked with startup companies, helping them navigate the legal system throughout the early stages of their growth. This experience gives him unique insight into the growing pains of a new business.
Elie attended Western Law, where he was a research assistant for Professor Robert Solomon. His research explored the prevalence of drug impaired driving in Canada and Canadian impaired driving laws. Elie revived the “Walk a Day in Her Shoes” campaign at Western Law, generating awareness towards violence against women while raising thousands of dollars for the White Ribbon Campaign. This endeavour earned him the Gender and the Law Association’s ambassador of the year award.
Prior to beginning law school, Elie fought as an amateur boxer out of the Ajax Boxing Club. While he retired from boxing in 2009, he continues his interest in the sport with recreational training and volunteer coaching. Elie considers himself a musical enthusiast who regularly attends the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and maintains a vintage record collection.
